Your membership unlocks access to all our FREE services and items for checkout, from books to snowshoes! Be sure to check out our Library of Things page.
When you sign up for a library card, we default your pin/password to be the last four digits of your phone number.
We also offer the following cards if patrons wish for a $5.00 fee
How to Register for a Library Card
Penetanguishene resident – rents in, or owns property in, Penetanguishene.
Annual renewal: free
- Tiny Township Resident – owns property in or rents in, Tiny Township.
- Annual renewal: free (must fill in form and submit to library)
- Township of Tiny Service Contract – Penetanguishene Public Library
Non-resident membership – does not pay taxes to Penetanguishene.
Cost: $216.32 per year
Annual renewal: $216.32
Please bring government-issued photo ID and a document that shows your current municipal address.
Acceptable identification by age
8–12 years – must be accompanied by a parent/guardian
13–15 years – student card
16–17 years – government-issued ID
18+ years – government-issued ID
Acceptable proof of address
Government-issued photo ID showing your address, or
Other official documents such as a tax bill or similar document that clearly shows your name and current municipal address.
Children who do not have proof of address must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who can provide the required identification and proof of address.
When you register, you will be asked to read and sign the membership agreement.
Library staff will also set up a PIN/password (last four digits of your phone number) so you can log in to your library account online.

How to Renew a Membership
Your library membership is renewed once a year, based on December 31. To renew, you must provide valid government photo ID and ensure any outstanding bills are paid.
You can renew in person at the Library or by completing the Card Renewal Form on this page and uploading a copy of your government photo ID and your library card. When your renewal is processed, you keep your existing library card and pin number.

Replacing Lost or damaged membership cards:
Card replacement is $5.00 and Government photo ID must be presented.
Conditions for limits of use:
- Failure to pay fines & assigned fees
- Theft of library property
- Destruction to library property
- Disturbances to other patrons
- All other objectionable or illegal conduct on the library premises
