Friends of the Library
Who Are the Friends?
The Friends of the Penetanguishene Public Library is a volunteer group that supports the CEO, staff, and Library Board, and encourages the use of the Library by all citizens of the Town of Penetanguishene.
The Friends help enhance library services and spaces through fundraising, advocacy, and hands-on support at special events.
What the Friends Support
Funds raised by the Friends go directly back into the Library. Over the years, the Friends have helped to support:
Special collections
E-book and e-resource collections
Children’s programming
Children’s Summer Reading Challenge prizes
Library projects and events
Library equipment and furnishings
The Friends have also contributed to capital projects, such as the Library’s accessibility lift, and hope to continue supporting similar improvements in the future.
How the Friends Raise Funds
The Friends organize a variety of fundraising and volunteer activities throughout the year, including:
Providing customer service at Boardwalk Gaming Centre (Bingo)
Other occasional fundraising events as opportunities arise
New fundraising ideas are always welcome, and volunteers can choose activities that best match their interests and availability.
How to Volunteer or Join the Friends
If you are passionate about your library and community, consider becoming a Friend of the Library.
As a Friend, you might:
Help with fundraising events
Support library programs (e.g., children’s or adult events)
Assist with advocacy and community outreach
